The 13 chambers of commerce Catalan have made a joint event in which they have insisted on claiming that the new funding model for Catalonia resulting in an increase of about 3,800 million euros with effect from January 1, and doubted that the agreement reached between the government and the Generalitat this year.
The chairman of the Council of Chambers of Catalonia, Miquel Valls, said that they value "positive" talks in recent days between the two executives, but "only a good agreement is acceptable," and that after the failure of the deadline of August 9 to mark the Statute, "will also breach, probably, the date of Dec. 31."
"The time has come to require the State compliance with the Statute. We do not accept more delays, no more ambiguity. We want an agreement satisfactory to Catalonia. Valls has argued that the shift "is an urgent need to redress the financial imbalance that has occurred in Catalonia as a result of rapid population growth that has not been reflected in the revenue system of funding" .
